Synoptics¶
The Synoptics module is an advanced visualization tool that allows you to create interactive graphical representations of physical environments.
A synoptic converts a floor plan, map, or diagram into a living control panel, where each monitored device is represented as a dynamic and actionable icon.
Unlike the Map widget (which displays geolocation at large scale), Synoptics provide detailed visual context of a specific environment:
- Building floors.
- Network diagrams.
- Industrial facilities.
π Its main value lies in reducing operators' cognitive load: instead of reading lists or generic maps, they see device status at exact locations, enabling faster and more intuitive decisions.
Content of This Section¶
-
Create and Configure Synoptic Areas
Learn how to establish the background (floor plan, map, diagram) on which the synoptic is built. -
Add and Link Object Iconography
Discover how to represent cameras, sensors, and other devices with dynamic icons linked to real objects. -
Interact with Objects in a Synoptic
Understand how icons reflect real-time states and how to execute actions from the context menu.
Create and Configure Synoptic Areas¶
An Area is the base canvas where a synoptic is built.
It provides the visual context to represent monitored devices.
Area Background Configuration¶
Available background types:
- Custom image (Recommended):
Ideal for floor plans, facility maps, industrial or network diagrams. - Solid color:
Useful for simple or abstract synoptics.
TIP
Use high-resolution images optimized for web (.pngor.jpg) for fast loading times.
Recommended file name example:ground_floor_north_wing.png.
Procedure to Create an Area¶
- Enter the Synoptics module.
- Click Create new Area.
- Assign a descriptive name.
- Upload a background image.
- Configure and save changes.
π The Area will be ready as a base canvas to add objects.
Add and Link Object Iconography¶
Each icon represents a real object monitored in Netsocs Synergy.
The key is linking, which connects the icon to the object in the database.
This allows the icon to:
1. Display the device's real-time status.
2. Offer a context menu of specific actions.
Examples of Objects That Can Be Linked¶
- Alarm sensors (motion, magnetic).
- Surveillance cameras.
- Doors and turnstiles (access control).
- Smart locks and GPS.
- IoT sensors (temperature, humidity, etc.).
- Industrial systems (PLCs, traffic lights).
Procedure to Add an Icon¶
- Open the Synoptic Area in edit mode.
- Search for the object in the library (e.g., "Main Lobby Camera").
- Drag and drop the object onto the floor plan.
- Adjust position, size, and orientation.
- Save changes.
WARNING
Always verify correct linking between icon and object.
Incorrect configuration can lead to taking actions on the wrong device.
Interact with Objects in a Synoptic¶
Icons in a synoptic are dynamic: they change appearance based on the linked object's state and allow direct actions.
Dynamic Visual States¶
| Object | State: Normal / Inactive | State: Alarm / Active |
|---|---|---|
| Door Sensor | Green icon (closed) | Flashing red icon (open) |
| CCTV Camera | Gray or blue icon | Red icon with animated border (recording on motion) |
| Access Control | Closed door icon | Open door icon (access granted) |
Context Menu Actions¶
Right-click on an icon β context menu with specific actions.
Example actions:
- Camera
- View live video.
- Play last recording.
-
Use PTZ controls.
-
Door (access control)
- Send open command.
- Lock door.
-
View last access event.
-
Alarm sensor
- Bypass zone.
- Restore zone.
- View technical information.
π This interactivity transforms the synoptic into a visual command center, minimizing time between detection and response.
β The Netsocs Synergy Synoptics module offers an intuitive, visual, and interactive monitoring experience, where each icon is a direct access point to real operations.
