Access Control

The Access Control module in Netsocs Synergy is a comprehensive system for managing who can access which areas and at what times.
It allows you to define and enforce access policies across all facilities, using a flexible model that connects people, credentials, and physical access points.

The three main entities of the module are:
1. People: Employees, visitors, or contractors.
2. Access Levels: Rules that define where and when access is allowed.
3. Doors: Physical access points (doors, turnstiles, barriers).

Contents of this section

Manage Doors and Access Points

A Door is a logical entity that represents a physical access point.
Each door is linked with hardware such as card readers, electromagnetic locks, and status sensors.

Door Management Interface

The main view displays a table with all registered doors:

Column Description
Name Unique door name (e.g., Main Door Building A).
State Real-time status: Closed, Open, Unknown.
Readers Number of readers associated with the door.
Direction / Sense Functionality: entry only, exit only, or both.

Global Actions

In the side panel you'll find:
- + Add Door: Add a new door and associated hardware.
- Sync: Synchronize configuration with physical controllers.
- Export / Import: Export or import bulk configurations.

Actions per Door

Each row includes icons for:
- View Details: Complete door information.
- Edit: Change name or associated devices.
- Configure: Advanced settings such as timers or hardware rules.

Configure Access Levels and Schedules

An Access Level connects people with doors and allowed schedules.
Instead of granting permissions door by door, you create reusable rule groups.

INFO
Think of Access Levels as roles or permission profiles. Examples:
- General Employee Access
- Weekend IT Access
- Warehouse Logistics Access

Components

  1. Doors: List of included doors.
  2. Schedules: Time intervals during which access is allowed.

Example

  • Level: Office Staff
  • Doors:
  • Main Door Building A
  • Floor 2 Offices Door
  • Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

👉 An attempt outside the schedule will be automatically denied.

Manage People and Credentials

The People section centralizes system user management.

Person Profile

Includes personal data: name, ID, department.
Here both credentials and access levels are assigned.

Credentials

A Credential is the authentication method.
Supported types:
- Proximity cards.
- PINs.
- Biometrics.
- Mobile credentials.

👉 Each credential is associated with a specific user's profile.

Access Level Assignment

In a person's profile, one or more levels are added.
Example:
- Office Staff
- 24/7 Gym Access

The system evaluates all levels when validating the credential.

Generate Reports and Audit Access Events

Auditing is key in access control.
The module includes detailed reports to monitor activity.

Report Types

Report Description Use Case
Events by Door Timeline of granted and denied access at a door. Investigate specific incidents.
Activity by Person Access events for a user during a period. Audit individual activity.
Access Alarms Critical events such as Door Forced or Door Open. Identify physical vulnerabilities.

TIP
All module events are also logged in the main Event Log, allowing correlation of access events with other events (e.g., video alarms).

✅ The Netsocs Synergy Access Control module combines flexibility and traceability, offering a robust system for physical security management in corporate and industrial environments.
