Map Widget

The Map Widget is the primary component within Netsocs Synergy for real-time geospatial monitoring. It allows you to visualize the location, state, and telemetry of all your assets (such as vehicles, personnel, or IoT devices) on an interactive map.

This tool is designed not only for passive visualization, but also as an active control center from which you can analyze information, execute actions, and review historical data.

Main Capabilities

Feature Description
Centralized Visualization Displays all geo-positioned assets in a single interface.
Dynamic Iconography Icons change appearance to reflect real-time asset status (e.g., moving, stopped, in alarm).
Direct Interaction Allows executing remote actions on devices (e.g., unlock a lock) through a contextual menu.
Smart Search Includes tools to quickly locate both geographic addresses and specific assets.
Route Analysis Offers the ability to reconstruct and visualize historical trajectories of any asset.

Detailed Guides

Learn how to use all the Map widget functionalities through the following guides.

Add and Configure the Map Widget Follow the steps to add the widget to your Workspace, customize its size, and prepare it for monitoring.

Search for Locations and Objects Discover how to use search tools to quickly find addresses and specific assets on the map.

Interact with Objects on the Map Learn how to interpret different icon states and use the contextual menu to execute actions.

Historical Route Analysis Understand how to access and analyze an asset's route history for auditing and optimization.

Add and Configure the Map Widget

This guide describes the process for adding the Map widget to a Workspace and adjusting its size for optimal viewing.

Add the Widget from the Library

  1. Start Selection: In your Workspace, click the + Select Widget button inside an empty panel. This will open the Widget Library.

  2. Locate the Map Widget: You have two methods to find it:

    • Direct Search (Recommended): Type "Map" in the search bar to filter the list instantly.
    • Visual Selection: Browse the catalog until you find the card with the title "Maps".
  3. Insert the Widget: Click on the "Maps" widget card. The widget will automatically load into the panel you selected.

Adjust Widget Size

Once added, you can expand the widget for better visualization.

  1. Locate the Border: Position the mouse cursor over the edge or corner of the widget panel. The cursor will change to a two-headed arrow (↔).
  2. Drag to Expand: Click, hold, and drag the edge to resize the panel.
  3. Release to Confirm: Release the mouse button when the widget reaches the desired size.

TIP The ability to expand the map is fundamental in a monitoring center, as it allows prioritizing visual information during an incident, improving the operator's situational awareness.

Search for Locations and Objects

The Map widget includes two complementary search tools in its upper left corner to quickly locate both geographic addresses and specific assets.

Search Types

Search Field Purpose Usage Example
Search and add... Geographic Search Centers the map on an address, city, or point of interest.
Search object... Asset Search Locates a specific vehicle, lock, or sensor monitored by Netsocs.

Procedure to Search for an Object

  1. Activate Search: Click on the Search object... field. A list with all your assets will drop down.
  2. Filter the List (Optional): If the list is long, start typing the object name or ID. The list will narrow in real time.
  3. Select the Object: Click on the desired object in the list.

When selecting an object, the map will automatically center on its last known location and highlight its icon for easy identification.

Interact with Objects on the Map

Icons on the map are dynamic elements that display real-time asset status and allow you to execute direct actions on them.

Interpreting Status Iconography

Icon appearance changes to provide information at a glance.

Visual State Meaning
Green Icon with Arrow The asset is in motion. The arrow indicates direction.
Icon with Yellow Circle The asset is stopped or stationary.

INFO This dynamic iconography logic is extensible to any object type. For example, a door icon can change color if it's open or closed, or a temperature sensor if it exceeds a threshold.

Using the Contextual Menu (Right Click)

When right-clicking on any object, a menu displays with specific actions for that device type.

Common Options (Smart Lock Example):

Option Description
Show location Displays the object's exact address and coordinates.
Unlock Sends a remote command to open the physical lock.
Turn on test mode Puts the device in a diagnostic mode with more frequent reports.
Rename Allows changing the object alias directly from the map.
Info Displays a panel with technical details such as battery level, signal quality, etc.

Historical Route Analysis

This function allows you to reconstruct and visualize past trajectories of an asset, an essential tool for auditing and security analysis.

Procedure to View a Route History

  1. Open Location Details: Right-click on an object on the map and select the Show location option.
  2. Select Date Range: In the "Location details" popup window, you'll see time tabs such as Today, Yesterday, Last Week, and Last Month. By default, Today's location is shown.
  3. Visualize the Route: Click on one of the past period tabs (e.g., Yesterday). The map in the window will update to show a line tracing the complete route the object traveled during that day.

Key Benefits

  • Auditing: Verify compliance with planned routes and delivery schedules.
  • Security: Reconstruct the sequence of events during an incident for investigation.
  • Optimization: Identify operational inefficiencies, such as suboptimal routes or unauthorized stops.
  • Compliance: Provides an auditable record for regulated industries.
